Initially confronting the oblique orientation of the site, the architects, with strategic finesse, sculpted open corners that gently unveil breathtaking sunset panoramas. This transformation of constraint into opportunity epitomizes a masterful design ethos, where challenges metamorphose into enchantments. To harmonize seamlessly with the landscape, the design unfolds through a series of nine rectangular volumes, each varying in height, cascading elegantly down the slope and weaving gracefully amidst the stately trees. The architectural language speaks in the gentle rhythm of stair-like setbacks, mirroring the plot’s trapezoidal outline, creating intimate sanctuaries within the garden that dissolve the boundaries between indoor and outdoor realms.
At the heart of the villa, a central 6x6 meter patio acts as the core of the spatial experience, flooding interiors with ethereal light that dances off the double-height ceilings of the surrounding day areas. This courtyard, thoughtfully appointed with a built-in sofa and lounge puffs, becomes a versatile living space, offering solace and ventilation during the summer’s embrace and transforming into a wind-sheltered haven during cooler climes. The design’s brilliance lies in its seamless integration, where the porch, living area, and patio coalesce into a singular expansive space through the artful deployment of sliding corner windows that reach full height. These tactically positioned apertures defy gravity’s constraints, their cantilevered edges extending boldly to offer unfettered views of the sea, becoming a part of the interior’s immersive experience.
Capitalizing on the double-height geometry of the patio, these openings induce a natural chimney effect, drawing in the sea’s fresh breath and cooling the interior with an effortless grace. The villa further harnesses natural ventilation through tall volumes with strategically low-positioned openings, facilitating the ascent of warm air and perpetuating a comfortable microclimate within. The architectural expression is a symphony of exposed concrete beams spanning robust masonry walls and slender metal columns, forming a transparent base of glazed facades that create an uninterrupted dialogue between the villa’s interior and the surrounding landscape.
The villa’s geometry, meticulously modulated according to its construction technique, features ceramic vaulted ceilings and concrete blocks that articulate a cohesive design language. The ground floor spaces flow effortlessly around the courtyard, while upstairs corridors transition into bright open halls, maintaining visual connections across the home. The ensuite bedrooms, with their open washbasins, expansive mirrors, and fluted-glass cabins for WC and shower, exude an air of spaciousness and refinement.
